In 1992 Philip Shaddock published one of the first two books on the emerging interactive medium, Multimedia Creations (Waite Group Press, San Francisco). This book lead to the founding of Pocket Cine Inc., which employed artists and programmers to create interactive programs for museums and science centres around the world.
After 2000 the company focused on the web, creating its own Content Management System and building interactive web sites and eventually social networking and YouTube projects like the YouTube viral video teaser storyboard you see here. The company continues to develop web sites, create educational interactive programs and provide hosting for business clients.
Philip Shaddock found time in the last decade to write four more books on a subject he found fascinating: genetics. He began by publishing the books he wrote on guppy genetics using desktop systems. The Unibind hard cover system allowed him to publish one copy at a time. But this proved to be labor intensive and costly.
When POD (Publishing on Demand) technology finally made short run books at a reasonable per unit cost possible, and e-book tablets made distribution to potential customers in an electronic format possible, the company found that its two sides (paper and screen) had finally come together. Now Pocket Cine Publishing produces original content that spans across a full spectrum of media, from short run books to web based interactive content. It distributes books and programs directly to consumers using web-based marketing and distribution.
